MEMORIES - Sweetened thru the ages just like wine by Peter Verbruggen and John Wilkinson
|
'Elvismatters proudly announces the release of a new book, titled
"MEMORIES - Sweetened thru the ages just like wine",
subtitled "On the road with Elvis & John Wilkinson".
"Memories" holds over a hundred rare illustrations and takes you back to the days when
Elvis filled showroom after showroom. The 160 page book brings back to life the many
memories of Elvis Presley's friend and rhythm guitarist John Wilkinson. Author of the
English book is Peter Verbruggen, who also wrote "Elvis - King of Belgium". For the
release of this book, Elvismatters joined forces with the Danish fanclub "Elvis Unlimited".
The book is all BUT an encyclopedia. Instead, it's a bundle of memories, as John Wilkinson
remembers his years with Elvis. It's illustrated with unique documents, newspaper
clippings and reviews.
First presentation of the book is on Saturday, January 10th 2004 during the Belgian
Birthday Party in Sint-Niklaas (near Antwerp).'

'Inside Loving You, the new Ger Rijff book is ready and released in the next couple of days.
It's another true 'Rijff Classic' with lots of fantastic pictures of Elvis. The book is very
moody beacuse of the many stunning black and white pictures. There is a colour section and
lots of memorabilia to be seen plus some very funny notes with some pictures. The cover just
looks like a vinyl album sleeve. Belgium and Dutch Elvis fans will be pleased to learn that
the book will be sold at the Elvis meeting in Dordrecht and Knokke this weekend.'

Roots of Elvis by David Neale
|
'An investigation of the often-surprising origins of some 450 songs recorded by
Elvis Presley. Fascinating for Elvis fans and other music buffs.'
'During Elvis Presley's career, he recorded some 800 songs in studio conditions,
meant for release on record. In addition, many informal recordings were made of
Elvis singing numbers that were never intended for record release. Such recordings
were made at home, whilst visiting friends, during his stay in Germany, or even
as one-liners or brief extracts during concert performances. Of all of these songs,
David Neale has identified some 450 different titles that were recorded by someone
else before Elvis got around to recording them. Roots of Elvis lists each of these
songs, identifying the original recording artist and when the original was made
(some date back to the 19th century!), as well as providing fascinating background
to the numbers. Readers will be surprised to learn of Elvis's link with Ignacy
Paderewski, for example, the man who prepared USA President Wilson's Treaty of
Versailles. The range of music represented is quite extraordinary and is testimony
to Elvis's versatility: rock'n'roll, blues, rhythm and blues, gospel, folk, and even
a bit of classical: who would have thought that names such as Bach, Beethoven and
Brahms would appear in a book about the music of Elvis Presley!'

This book has now been released, with nine new photos.
The Humes Years is the first book in Bill Burk's

Bill Burk's Early Elvis trilogy are among the most critically acclaimed books on Elvis ever published.
The thorough research and detail included means they provide a previously missing insight into who Elvis
was during his formative and school years. Based on Bill Burk's decades of investigative journalism and
his interviews with scores of people who knew Elvis and his family, the Early Elvis trilogy is an
essential inclusion in any serious library of Elvis books. They provide readers with a picture of the
