Peter Guralnick (born December 15, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American music critic, author, and screenwriter.
He specializes in the history of early rock and roll and has written on Elvis Presley, Sam Phillips, and Sam Cooke

In 2015 he wrote Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock 'n' Roll
about Sam Phillips, the man who discovered Elvis Presley (amongst others), and his label Sun Records in Memphis.
In 2022 the book "The Birth of Rock 'n' Roll: 70 Years of Sun Records" is scheduled to appear.
It will have a look at the history of Sun Records, the label that started Rock 'n' Roll, told through 70 of its iconic recordings.
This book is written in cooperation with Colin Escott.
