The book describes Elvis' return from the US Army starting with his long train journey down to Memphis from Washington D.C., and the "Welcome Home Elvis" TV show with Frank Sinatra. Elvis' significant contribution to the construction of USS Arizona Pearl Harbor Memorial with the aid of his 1961 concert in Honolulu is featured. Several of Elvis' sixties movies are discussed along with significant recordings, leading to his 1968 TV special and return to live performances in Las Vegas in 1969. After years grinding out Hollywood movies his return to the stage could be viewed as Elvis' second long journey home of the decade. This is volume 2of 3. Also released as hardback. A kindle-edition with all three volumes as a single edition was also released. The sketches were omitted in the single volume and additional photographs were included. Source: book back cover. |
