Description: The figure of Elvis Presley has been undervalued on many occasions in Spain. Since his arrival, his revolutionary role and his musical contribution were ignored, often presenting a negative and distorted image of him. It was not until 1960 that his presence was definitively established in our country, reaching the top of the charts and remaining there until well into 1963, with the appearance of the Beatles. However, Elvis had changed since his return from military service and the Spanish public received his image noticeably distorted through films and recordings that did not do him justice, ignoring his first and revolutionary records and performances, which appeared fragmented or simply ignored by the Spanish public. In this book of documentation and research, the first of two volumes, Rubén Olivares Rosell paints a portrait of Spain in 1956 as it welcomed Elvis, the news that was written about him in newspapers and magazines, contrasting and refuting the preconceived ideas that were held about Elvis Presley and, above all, making a passionate defense of his image and his music. This is the second edition of Volume 1, the first edition was published in 2022. Volume 2 covers the years 1970-1990 and was released in 2024.
